Bruce Springsteen, Bowen Yang among honorees at Academy Museum Gala

New Jersey legend Bruce Springsteen and “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang are among the stars set to be honored at 2025 Academy Museum fundraising gala for their cultural impact.

The Boss, 75, will also perform at the Oct. 18 event, now in its fifth year. According to Variety, he’s set to receive the museum’s Legacy Award for his multigenerational influence.

Emmy nominee-turned-“Wicked” star Yang, 34, will be given the Vantage Award, which “honors artists who help challenge dominant narratives in cinema.”

Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz and Walter Salles, who directed this year’s Best Picture nominee, “I’m Still Here,” will receive the Icon Award and Luminary Award, respectively.

All four of the honorees are “storytellers whose influence resonates in film and beyond,” said Amy Homma, Academy Museum director and president.

According to Homma, the Academy Museum Gala is “a special evening dedicated to bringing together individuals to champion the celebration, advancement and preservation of cinema.” The co-chairs for this year’s event include Jon M. Chu, Common, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Jennifer Hudson, Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, film producer Susan Downey.

Springsteen has personal history with the Academy, having won an Oscar in 1994 for Best Original Song for “Streets of Philadelphia,” off the “Philadelphia” soundtrack. He was nominated for that award again in 1996, for the titular song from “Dead Man Walking.”

The biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen during the making of his 1982 album “Nebraska,” is set to hit theaters on Oct. 24, just days after the gala.
