Turning Earth is bringing together more than 60 ceramicists across one weekend at its autumn market, held at the Leyton studio, so you can enter the new season stocked up with handcrafted homeware. It’s the perfect chance to shop from a range of handcrafted and one-of-a-kind ceramics, which would make ideal homeware and Christmas gifts.
Head down on Sunday for a hands-on workshop with the talented Hanna Salomonsson, who will demonstrate how to hand-build intricate flower designs. Afterward, Turning Earth’s senior crafter Ben Sutton will run two rake-style firings. Don’t worry if you’re new to this as pre-made vases are provided for you to glaze, fire, and take home. Spaces are limited for this popular workshop, so book early to secure your spot!
While you’re there, be sure to explore the whole neighbourhood too as Saturday 20th, Furnishing Futures will open its warehouse to show how discarded items are transformed and placed into the homes and spaces of women and children rebuilding after domestic abuse. Meanwhile on Sunday 21st, Suite Comfort 2024 founder Sharon Hennessy will demonstrate the art of restoring vintage seating.
Across both days of the market, there’ll be live music, street food and drinks making this the ideal September weekender – save the dates.
