It’ll be Vagabond Wines’ biggest project yet
Canada Water has been undergoing a massive redevelopment, and following KERB and Broadwick moving to the area with Corner Corner, Vagabond Wines is moving in too, bringing wine production to an area where it used to be imported in. The 6000 sq ft space will house a fully operational 100-tonne winery, the largest urban winery in the UK, as well as a self-pour wine bar with more than 100 wines by the glass on offer.
The winery, lead by head winemaker José Quintana, will give guests the opportunity to see – and taste – wine at every stage of its production. As well as using grapes grown in Oxfordshire, Kent, Suffolk, and Sussex, the winery will also be showcasing experimental winemaking techniques, like solera ageing and concrete-egg fermenters. And there’ll be plenty of spaces for wine tastings, fondue feasts and private parties.
Speaking about the Canada Water opening, Christobell Giles, Managing Director of Vagabond Wines, said: “This is where London meets the vineyard. We’ve brought winemaking back to the water and built a space that connects people to the stories, craft and community behind every bottle. And now, with our new online platform, that same spirit of discovery can be shared anywhere in the UK.”
