TfL’s Cycle Sundays are back this summer
After launching TfL Cycle Sundays in 2024, Santander Cycles and Transport for London are bringing the scheme back for this summer. Every Sunday in August, all Londoners and visitors can get free unlimited 60-minute Santander Cycles rides – the free codes are available on the Santander Cycles discounts page and can be redeemed at any docking station terminal or through the Santander Cycles app. This year the scheme also includes e-bikes but these can only be hired via the app or with a membership key.
You can take as many rides as you like with the code but you’ll need to dock your bike within 60 minutes to avoid incurring any extra charges – it’s £1.65 for each additional hour on a pedal bike and £3 for each additional hour on an e-bike.
Launched in July 2010, Santander Cycles now has more than 12,000 bikes (including 2000 e-bikes) and 800 docking stations across the city, so you’re never too far way from a set of wheels. If you’re new to cycling in the city, TfL Cycle Sundays also includes tips on cycling safety and a range of leisurely routes (also accessible on Strava and Komoot) all over the capital that are perfect for beginners. Whether you fancy cycling around the Enfield Loop, Hyde Park, Bow locks or the Wandle Trail, there’s a route for you.
Speaking about the return of the scheme, Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, said: “TfL Cycle Sundays is back and better than ever, offering Londoners and visitors to our city free bike travel every Sunday throughout August. Cycling can be for everyone and it really is the best way to explore London this summer, with more than 410km of cycling routes available for both beginners and experienced riders. The Mayor and I are encouraging everyone to take up this fantastic offer as we continue to champion cycling and build a heathier, greener and more accessible London for everyone.”
