Arthur’s Market: A New Culinary Experience

From fresh fish to hand-rolled sushi and Basque-style pintxos, this Chelsea spot is bringing the market hall vibe under one roof

We mentioned Arthur’s Market in our recent post on the new wave of grocerants opening in London, but now we’ve got even more details. The new food spot coming to Chelsea this autumn – from the team behind The Prince Arthur pub in Belgravia – is part grocery store, part deli, part butcher, part fishmonger, and part dining destination, with definitely the swishest interiors of the latest bunch of openings.

By day, you’ll be able to swing by for takeaway coffee, sandwiches and salads, or stock up on weekly essentials – think seasonal fruit and veg, artisanal cheeses, rare Japanese pantry goods, and luxe bits like caviar and wine. Over at the fish counter, you’ll find everything from Cornish classics to whole Spanish tuna, carabineros and fresh sea urchin, all at what Arthur’s Market claims are “affordable prices.”

Once you’ve done your weekly shop (and maxed out the AMEX), you can check out one of the two dining spaces: ASA Izakaya, a 12-seater sushi and hand roll bar that transforms into a 30-cover restaurant at night. The spot will serve a selection of high-end nigiri – think scallop, langoustine and squid kasudzuke – and offer an extensive caviar and roe selection. This is West London, baby! The other is Salvador, a wood-fired pintxos bar slinging Euro-style small plates with produce straight from the butcher and fishmonger. Expect dishes like beef tartare with barrel-aged soy and bone marrow, or pork presa with nduja bean stew.

Arthur’s Market is a real one-stop shop.
