The hottest supper clubs, events and residencies sweeping London’s restaurants right now

It can be hard enough hitting all the restaurants on your must-visit-in-London list, but getting to all the food-related events? Near impossible. The city’s chefs, restaurateurs, cocktail pros and wine buffs are always cooking something up, whether it’s a one-off collaborative menu or a long-running kitchen takeover, and you’ve usually gotta act fast to be in attendance. And it’s not just restaurants, there are countless supper clubs in the capital, often run by chefs as a supplement to the day job, where you’ll find some of the most exciting menus in the city – you might find them flying just under your radar.

Every Tuesday, London Fields joint Papi is serving up a special menu, the concept of which will change regularly. For now, it’s all about Pet Nat and fried chicken – it’s probably the best thing you will go to on a Tuesday in London this spring.

Ling Ling’s Residency at Bambi

For the next instalment of Bambi and Friends, the team is bringing out the big guns with a weekly Sunday takeover by Jenny Phung of Ling Ling’s. We’ve been told to expect dishes like poached king prawns, chicken & water chestnut wontons, doubanjiang mushrooms, hummus & crackers, and corn-fed chicken glass noodles salad, and for bookings to go fast – so don’t hang about.

Chet’s & Friends Kerbside Pizza Parties

Next up in the Chet’s & Friends series, the Thai-American restaurant will be joining forces with two pizza joints – Dinner for One Hundred and Vincenzo’s – for a couple of Kerbside Pizza Parties. Expect Thai-inspired toppings, cocktails and a sunny patio to have them on.

Salt Beef Sundays at Studio Kitchen

Wilde’s Deli, a contemporary Jewish deli pop-up run by chef Ollie Gratter, is teaming up with Studio Kitchen for three ‘Salt Beef Sundays’. We’re told to expect excellent salt beef sandwiches, as well as summery snacks and cocktails – plus, you can book in advance for this one to make sure you get your fix.

Maria Marte at Barrafina

Barrafina is bringing back its quarterly guest chef series Barrafina Invita and it’s kicking off with Dominican chef Maria Marte, who in 2018 became the only woman in Spain and the whole of Latin America at the time to achieve two Michelin stars. She’ll be showcasing her new wave take on Dominican food and native ingredients on the night.

Eric Wan (Lá Lốt) at Joyau

Chef Eric Wan’s modern Vietnamese pop-up Lá Lốt, which is inspired by his Chinese/Vietnamese background and his mother’s birthplace of Chợ Lớn in Saigon, is popping up at Joyau for three days this June. There’ll be both lunch and dinner sittings where Eric will be serving up feasting menus of sharing plates such as pâté, Maggi & pickles on baguette; fried chicken, lemongrass & kumquat; prawn & pomelo salad; mortadella bánh mì; and black sesame mille-feuille.

Leyton Oyster Club at Arch Deli

Oyster shuckers Rocco is taking over Arch Deli for a day, slinging the best British rock oysters and plus bone marrow butter and chimichurri grilled ones. There’ll be some spesh wines lined up for the day too and the regular Arch Deli snack menu will also be running in case you get really hungry.

Uzbek Food & Culture Festival

London’s first and only festival of Uzbek food and culture is back for its second year this June. Expect entertainment, activities and the live preparation of 1 tonne of Plov, Uzbekistan’s national dish.

Anna Tobias at Hector’s

Dalston wine bar Hector’s is welcoming Anna Tobias (founder of Café Deco, previously of The River Cafe, Rochelle Canteen and P.Franco) on board for a two-day residency this June. Anna will be cooking up a lunch and a dinner – on separate days – that encapsulate her brand of unpretentious cooking, inspired by British, Italian and Serbian cuisines. Plus, the Hector’s team will be bringing out some exciting wines to pair with the menu that’ll be served by the glass.

Michele Pascarella, aka the best pizza chef in the world, is hosting another charity dinner at his Chiswick pizzeria Napoli on the Road. He’ll be cooking up six courses alongside Diego Vitagliano (of 10 Pizzeria di Bagnoli), with 100% of the proceeds going to aid Refettorio Felix in its mission to tackle food poverty and social isolation.

Lamoresca at Jolene

Jolene Newington Green is going Sicilian for one night this June as Simon Rizzo of Lamoresca, a farm with vineyards, olive groves, almond and fruit trees, takes over the restaurant. The kitchen will be serving up Sicilian classics like sfincione, arancini, caponata, crudo di gamberi, spaghetti ai ricci di mare, pasta alla norma, grilled seafood, and cannoli alongside Lamoresca wines.

Mortimer House Kitchen’s Meatball Challenge

Tom Cenci’s Mortimer House Kitchen is going to be hosting its first charity meatball competition, ‘Balls for Testicular Cancer’. The event will see chefs from some of London’s most exciting restaurants (including Manteca, Grasso, Rubens Rubens and Angelina) compete to see who can make the best meatball. The whole thing will be judged by the likes of Giles Coren and Ravneet Gill and will be in support of Movember, with all proceeds from the £25 tickets going towards the men’s health charity.

Andy Beynon, of Michelin-starred Behind, is teaming up with Culture Canteen to serve up a collaborative, six-course Thai meal at the London Fields restaurant. This’ll be running for just one day, but there’ll be two sittings you can get involved with.

The Parakeet x Bouchon Racine

Two of London’s hottest restaurants will be joining forces this June for a one-off, nine-course dinner. Chefs Ben Allen and Henry Harris will be fusing their distinct cooking styles to create an exciting new menu, priced at £85 per head, and all profits made from the evening will be evenly split and donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians and suicide prevention charity Papyrus.

Amélie’s Belgian Foods at Italo

Italo in Vauxhall is hosting another supper club in June and it’s gonna be a celebration of all things Belgian. Host Amélie, who works at Village Underground but has been cooking at other London events and hosting people in her flat, is taking over with a Belgian menu including meatballs in tomato sauce with chips and speculoos ice cream sandwiches.
