This intimate 8 person hands-on masterclass will see a guided 90 minute session in making two onigirazu from scratch: one chicken and one tofu (or two tofu for the veggies out there). If you don’t know, onigirazu are a Japanese rice snack similar to onigiri but made by wrapping rice and fillings in nori seaweed and folding it into a neat, sandwich-like shape. Unlike onigiri, onigirazu are easy to fill with a variety of ingredints and are cut in half to reveal their colourful layers.
Alongside, the onigirazu-making, you’ll taste four Japanese teas – sencha, hojicha, genmaicha and hoji genmaicha – and learn how to prepare each on to bring out its best flavour. At the end of the session, you can choose your favourite and take a tin of loose-leaf tea home to enjoy at home, alongisde your onigirazu.
The workshop is led by MATCHADO founder, Hiromi Matsunobu, a Japanese tea specialist and confectionery expert who is passionate about sharing Japanese tea culture, so you know you’ll be in safe hands.
