A new robot-powered yakitori restaurant is coming to London

Yari Club will be the first restaurant of its kind in the UK

Japanese concept Yari Club is set to make its London debut with a site in Covent Garden to open this autumn. The yakitori restaurant will differ from others offering the Japanese grilled chicken skewers as plates on the menu will be prepared by a a robotic machine.

While some quick-service restaurants in Japan already use the tech, Yari Club will be the first in the UK to do so. There will be eight yakitori options on the menu – Tsukune, Kawa, Mune, Momo, Toriniku, Classic Negima, Miso Mune and Teba – as well as a prawn tempura skewer. You can expect sides too, such as chicken karaage, corn tempura, fries with truffle oil and yuzu pickles.

Skewers will be priced at £2.50 a piece, or you can go for three for £6.90 or five for £11.90, and Yari Club will also offer rice boxes topped with the skewers. Given its central London location, sounds like this is gonna become a prime office lunch choice.
