Chris Denney is heading back west with Fantomas

His new role follows his stints at 108 Garage and Fiend

Opening on the King’s Road in October, Fantômas sees Chris Denney partner up with restaurateurs George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ilya Demichev, who also have Lita, Wild Tavern, Belvedere and Goodman to their names. The crack team will be serving modern European food in the candlelit space, though the dishes on the launch menu indicate a big Asian influence in the kitchen too. You can expect the likes of:

  • Chickpea farinata with lamb heart ragu
  • Boneless chicken wings with BBQ persimmon and sambal
  • Pilchards with gochujang and tomato
  • XL diver scallop with Goan masala
  • White beetroot ‘pastrami’ with blue cheese ranch and Fuji apple
  • Crispy veal sweetbreads with bulgogi and green onion
  • Salt-baked celeriac with Marmite hollandaise and mushroom jerky
  • Iberico belly with quince, lime and jalapeno
  • Chocolate bar with Jerusalem artichoke, orange and hazelnut
  • Carrot with liquorice and yoghurt

The cocktail list sounds just as eclectic – there’s a Miso Old Fashioned, a Normandy 75 and a Pandan Iced Tea with coconut oil-washed rum on there – so Fantômas is shaping up to be quite the neighbourhood spot.
