The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced a stellar programme for 2025
Running from May to September, the 2025 season will be Drew McOnie’s inaugural season as Artistic Director of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and he’s put together quite the programme. It’ll open with the UK premiere of musical comedy Shucked (10th May – 14th June) following its run on Broadway and tour of the US. As Maizy and Beau are about to get married, the corn in their small community starts to die and the town needs answers – but who will dare venture beyond its borders?
In June, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Dream Ballets: A Triple Bill (19th – 22nd June), a reimagining of the dream ballets from Allegro, Oklahoma! and Carousel by choreographers Julia Cheng, Shelley Maxwell and Kate Prince, and Dominic Cooke’s adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s beloved novel Noughts & Crosses, directed by Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s Associate Artistic Director Tinuke Craig (28th June – 26th July), will be hitting the stage.
The season is finishing with Rona Munro’s adaptation of Lerner & Loewe’s Brigadoon (2nd August – 20th September), with Drew McOnie helming the production. It’s the first time the show, where downed WWII fighter pilots Tommy and Jeff meet sisters Fiona and Jean in the dreamlike village of Brigadoon in the Scottish Highlands, has been revived in London for 35 years.
Over the summer the theatre will also host the family-friendly musical based on Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile (15th August – 7th September), and four Open Air Theatre Festivals featuring family, dance, comedy and music takeovers. Tickets for the 2025 shows are on sale for members now, with public booking opening at 11am on Thurs 6th February.
